Law enforcement was notified of the crash at 8:30 a.m. Friday, according to Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
“A passenger vehicle struck the side of a semi in the area of the saddlebag tanks and had a rupture of the saddlebag tank to cause a fire,” said Springfield Twp. Fire Department Deputy Chief James Allen.

The occupants of both vehicles escaped with minor injuries. The driver of the SUV was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center and the semi driver was evaluated at the scene but refused care, Allen said.
The semi truck was empty, and Allen said there was a diesel fuel release of 50 to 70 gallons to mitigate the hazard.
Ohio 41 was closed in both directions at 9 a.m. Allen said it would remain closed for several hours while they got the trucks moved. He said the Ohio Department of Transportation has some “extensive repairs” to do to the road because of the fire.
Shortly after noon, highway patrol dispatchers said the road was still closed and there was still paving work to be done.
Springfield Twp. emergency crews responded to the scene as well as city of Springfield and Harmony Twp. to assist.
